\n Ho, June 12, GNA – Mr Kojo Bonsu, a former Mayor of Kumasi has stepped up to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the coming general elections, and has promised a new regime that would ensure peace, security, and discipline.<\/p>\n

He said the country was being taking over by indiscipline amidst economic challenges, and that it was time to cue in a new era of nationalism.<\/div>\n
Mr Bonsu was addressing members of the Volta Region House of Chiefs, during a courtesy call to announce his bid to the traditional leaders of the Region known to be the bedrock of the party.<\/div>\n
\u201cIt is time for a new start, a new kind of representation, and I have come to tell you that something new is coming. Something that has never been done before, and it can be done.<\/div>\n
\u201cThis country has become totally undisciplined. You see people on the road misbehaving, young people not respecting the elderly, and I want to be the leader who would bring discipline, respect, peace, and security to this country.\u201d<\/div>\n
He promised an economic strategy that would transform the nation for the better and said he would seek a consensus among political parties towards addressing the nation\u2019s developmental needs.<\/div>\n
\u201cI would also want to bring the GDP to the minimum five percent, so the citizenry of this country\u202fwould enjoy and be happy,\u201d the aspirant stated.<\/div>\n
He said the Volta Region remained the backbone of the Party and made a solemn vow to appoint a running mate who hailed from the Region and prioritize its development when elected President.<\/div>\n
Members of the House welcomed his bid and proceeded to engage him on his planned policies and initiatives, and which offered to reveal of his coming manifesto, which includes mandatory military training for all graduates towards a return to discipline.<\/div>\n
Mr Bonsu also revealed radical economic policies planned for his tenure, and he said he would set off an industrial revolution in the country.<\/div>\n
Togbe Tepre Hodo, President of the Volta House of Chiefs, said the Nation\u2019s growth had been affected by political partisanship, and therefore commended the flagbearer aspirant\u2019s resolve to unite Parties for development.<\/div>\n
\u201cGhana first before anything else. Partisanship benefits a few, not all,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n
Mr. Kojo Bonsu, a businessman, is a native of the Ashanti Region and of royal lineage.<\/div>\n
