{"id":1119501,"date":"2022-06-12T18:32:57","date_gmt":"2022-06-12T18:32:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/12\/ashanti-region-versus-the-utility-service-providers\/"},"modified":"2022-06-12T18:32:57","modified_gmt":"2022-06-12T18:32:57","slug":"ashanti-region-versus-the-utility-service-providers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/12\/ashanti-region-versus-the-utility-service-providers\/","title":{"rendered":"Ashanti Region Versus The Utility Service Providers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<article>\n<p>The latest information coming from the Ashanti Region of Ghana reveals that, Consumers in the Region, have stood up against the Utility Service Providers, on their proposed tariff increment.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/cc237ad0982a46f282afcd47a710bc68\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This comes following the recent announcement, by the Utility Service Providers (Electricity Company of Ghana-ECG, and the Ghana Water Company Limited-GWCL), to increase their tariff by over a 100%.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Utility Service Providers, the increment in tariff is necessary to meet their operational cost.<\/p>\n<p>Whiles the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), is demanding tariff an increment of 148%, the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), is asking for 334% increment; but customers in the Ashanti Region have kicked against the two proposed increments.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/51948d5270f8486e84f73b5f0459518d\"\/><\/p>\n<p>According to a report captured on citinewsroom.com, the consumers in the Ashanti Region kicked against the utility tariff increment, due to the current high cost of living, poor service delivery by utility service providers, and the current economic hardship in the region.<\/p>\n<p>According to some consumers, \u201cThe utility service providers, should wait for some time, before they increase their tariffs. My concern as a consumer is that, things are not in order at the moment. For the type of service they are rendering, it is not even convincing enough\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/b39c8f36b49e4ea7b5982bd8eca3122a\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Some consumers also claimed that, \u201cThere are people whose salaries with the utility service providers, are more than the work they do.
