Bright Simons, honorary vice president of IMANI-Africa, claims the architect directing the National Cathedral has been paid $6 million even though no real work has been done.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Bright Simons tweeted an overhead shot of the National Cathedral and inquired why the project\u2019s architect got $6 million.<\/p>\n

He stated project management issues plague the National Cathedral.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, construction on the National Cathedral has halted months after project contractors RIBADE Company LTD reportedly laid off 200 employees due to a shortage of cash.<\/p>\n

After spending roughly GH200 million on the project, the government halted construction at the foundation level.<\/p>\n

A March 14, 2022 letter issued by project manager Grant Ramsay instructed staff to surrender all property to Human Resources.<\/p>\n

It said it was just complying with parts of the contract that need cost mitigation because it wasn\u2019t getting funding for the project.<\/p>\n

Part of the letter states, \u201cDue to the National Cathedral of Ghana\u2019s absence of payment, RIBADE COMPANY LTD is compelled under the contract to offset expenses.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn compliance with such an obligation under the contract, RIBADE COMPANY LTD has no option but to issue this letter of notice terminating the agreement between RIBADE COMPANY LTD and you as per the provisions of your employment agreement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis notice of termination takes effect on the 14th of March 2022 you are therefore requested to hand in all properties (i.e safety equipment, etc) belonging to the company in your possession to the HR office by close of work of the same day,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n
