{"id":1116088,"date":"2022-06-09T15:22:44","date_gmt":"2022-06-09T15:22:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/09\/price-of-bread-records-highest-inflation-rate-in-may-2022-gss\/"},"modified":"2022-06-09T15:22:44","modified_gmt":"2022-06-09T15:22:44","slug":"price-of-bread-records-highest-inflation-rate-in-may-2022-gss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/09\/price-of-bread-records-highest-inflation-rate-in-may-2022-gss\/","title":{"rendered":"Price of bread records highest inflation rate in May 2022 \u2013 GSS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"522\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Bread-Bakers-2-696x522.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Bread-Bakers-2\"\/><\/div>\n<p>   <!--  --><\/p>\n<p>Data from the Ghana Statistical Service(GSS) show that the price of bread recorded the highest rate of inflation of 41.3% year-on-year in the inflation basket, which is made of 307 items.<\/p>\n<p>This is followed by increases in fuel and transport fares which hit 39.9%.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The two items are part of the top 10 list of goods and services that registered inflation rates higher than the national average.<\/p>\n<p>According to Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Annim, fuel and transport fares contributed significantly to expenditure of non-food household.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you look at the data, you will realize that fuel and transport fares recorded the significantly\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOthers include fuel, house rental, imported rice, hotel accommodation, fish, smoked herrings and education,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that all the goods and services in the basket, which measures the rate of inflation, recorded an increase in prices year-on-year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the month-on-month rate however stood at 4.1%.<\/p>\n<p>The margin between month-on-month food and non-food is 0.1 percentage points with food inflation recording 4.0% and non-food 4.1%<\/p>\n<p>Imported inflation (28.2%) sustains its dominance over domestic inflation (27.3%) with a margin of 0.9 percentage points<\/p>\n<p>For the regions, the Upper East Region registered the lowest rate of Inflation of 18.7%, whilst the Eastern region recorded the highest rate of inflation of 31.2%.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Ghana Statistical Service, will from next month start releasing the rate of inflation for all the 16 regions in the country<\/p>\n<p>            <!--  [embed]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=videoseries[\/embed]<!--\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>--><\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"wQGWArD-QL4\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Premtobre Kasee on Adom TV (9-6-22)\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wQGWArD-QL4?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Data from the Ghana Statistical Service(GSS) show that the price of bread recorded the highest rate of inflation of 41.3% year-on-year in the inflation basket, which is made of 307 items.
