Nana Akomea, former NPP Director of Communications, justifies building National Cathedral despite the economic difficulty.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201c70% of our population is Christian, thus constructing a cathedral is crucial. I\u2019m glad our Muslim friends have a Mosque befitting their faith, erected with government funding. Christians will welcome a national cathedral for hosting national events.<\/p>\n

Nana Akomea remarked on Metro TV\u2019s Good Morning Ghana, \u201cMany nations have this facility. In America, individuals still sleep on the streets; in London, they have national cathedrals for national events.<\/p>\n

However, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on the other hand has urged President Akufo-Addo to study Proverbs 21:3 and halt wicked and unconstitutional activities in the guise of a National Cathedral sacrifice to God.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy is the Akufo-Addo administration providing GH25 million for the National Cathedral?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cShockingly,\u201d Ablakwa said, \u201cthis is the same government citing lack of finances to pay NABCo trainees, school meal caterers, service employees, etc.\u201d<\/p>\n

On March 5, 2020, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo lay the Cathedral\u2019s foundation stone.<\/p>\n

A National Cathedral Secretariat has been established to solicit contributions from people and the commercial sector for its construction.<\/p>\n

The cathedral will include chapels, a baptistery, a 5000-seat two-level auditorium, a grand central hall, music school, choir rehearsal, art gallery, store, and multi-use rooms.<\/p>\n

It will house Africa\u2019s first Bible Museum and Documentation Centre, devoted to Ghanaian Christianity and nation-building.<\/p>\n
