Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of the late gospel singer Osinachi, has said that his wife died of lung cancer rather than as a result of any physical abuse at his hands, contrary to what her family and friends have asserted.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Nwachukwu, who was brought before a high court in Abuja on Friday, June 3, and arraigned there, remarked this when he was being led into the courtroom by security personnel.<\/p>\n

The late gospel singer, well known for her classic single \u201cEkweme,\u201d passed away on April 8th, after reportedly spending the previous week in a coma for the five days leading up to her passing away.<\/p>\n

Allegations of physical abuse against the dead by her husband, Peter, have been made by a number of people, including close relatives, acquaintances, and children of the deceased.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Peter said in a video that is now doing the rounds online that he is being falsely accused.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me tell the whole world, I have suffered a lot. I have been abandoned. What killed my wife was cancer of the lungs; I didn\u2019t hit my wife. Cancer of the lungs killed my wife, Osinachi Nwachukwu, so I\u2019m suffering for what I do not know\u201d. The-father-of-four said.<\/p>\n

Nwachukwu was brought before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory on a 23-count charge that bordered on culpable homicide on Friday, June 3.<\/p>\n

Despite the fact that he pleaded not guilty to the charge against him, Justice Njideka Nwosu-Iheme, in a short ruling, ordered his remand at the Kuje Correctional Centre, while his trial was adjourned to June 16 at 12 pm and June 17 at 9am.<\/p>\n
