{"id":1108563,"date":"2022-06-02T23:51:10","date_gmt":"2022-06-02T23:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/02\/ghana-maritime-boss-we-have-made-progress-under-maritime-labour\/"},"modified":"2022-06-02T23:51:10","modified_gmt":"2022-06-02T23:51:10","slug":"ghana-maritime-boss-we-have-made-progress-under-maritime-labour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/02\/ghana-maritime-boss-we-have-made-progress-under-maritime-labour\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana Maritime Boss: We Have Made Progress Under Maritime Labour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<article>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/569e7fab595443bea58938d98cd3d357\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Director-General of Ghana Maritime Authority, Mr. Thomas Kofi Alonsi, has stated that his outfit has made progress on the maritime labour front.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the authority\u2019s progress is in relation to the International Maritime Organization (IMO)-Standards of Training, Certificate, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) requirement.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Thomas Alonsi made this known at the Ministry of Information press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, decent conditions for seafarers, seafarer recruitment and engagement, standard seafarer employment agreement, pre-sea vocational training, and training model for seafarers, all have experienced improvement.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Kofi Alonsi indicated that with regard to the country\u2019s compliance with IMO-STCW training requirements, the STC conventions set out minimum standards of training for all persons intended to pursue seafaring professions, which the Authority subjected itself to an independent evaluation in accordance with the STC conventions and presented the report to the International Maritime Organization panel of experts.<\/p>\n<p>He revealed that the panel approved Ghana\u2019s continued inclusion on the white list.<\/p>\n<p>The Authority in question has launched a comprehensive program to improve working conditions on board Ghanaian fishing vessels through regular inspections, with a particular emphasis on vessel accommodation and other areas.<\/p>\n<p>CREDIT:S.A.Kingsley.<\/p>\n<p>Content created and supplied by: generalconcept1 (via  Opera<br \/>\nNews )<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<p class=\"copyright hide\">\n<span class=\"content\">    ,  .   ,     .
