Deputy Seneral Secretary of the New Patriotic Party Nana Obiri Boahen has joined the opposition NDC\u2019s call that government renders account for the COVID-19 funds.<\/p>\n
He says it is only in n Africa that it becomes a crime for somebody to render accounts for monies expended on a project.<\/p>\n
The Minority in Parliament has indicated that it will re-file a motion for a probe into COVID-19 expenditure.<\/p>\n
The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, indicates that this has been strengthened by a viral audio from a regional executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that suggests that COVID funds were distributed to party functionaries.<\/p>\n
Haruna Iddrisu said, \u201cthis is just a tip of the iceberg. We were here when our Foreign Affairs Committee reported how monies adding up to about GH\u00a266 million were spent on behalf of the ministry. Since when has the Ministry of Finance begun a procurement entity for the Ministry of Foreign affairs?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cNana Akufo-Addo is presiding over the gigantic spending and disbursement of COVID-19 expenditure. We will renew our position. We will refile the motion.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Speaking on Okay fm<\/strong>\u2019s Ade Akye Abia<\/em> program, he stood surety for the fact that the NPP conducted due diligence with the various donations and grants received during the COVID 19 pandemic, and that it\u2019s only proper for the government to heed to the NDC\u2019s call and give detailed account on how the funds were disbursed.<\/p>\n “The NDC, as a responsible opposition for me, is doing the right thing and I support their call. At least this is not one of their propagandist activities, they are ensuring value for money.<\/em><\/p>\n “I also believe that if government does render accounts to the good people of this country on how the COVID-19 cash was used, it will clear the minds of individuals who may have doubt about how the money was expended<\/em>,” he added.<\/p>\n Watch Video Below<\/p>\n
