The Ghana Police Service has fires back at the recent comments made by the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Madam Harriet Thompson concerning the arrest of Mr. Oliver Barker-Vormawor.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, 17 May 2022, The #FixTheCountry Movement\u2019s Convener, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, was arrested by the Ghana Police.<\/p>\n
Information revealed by Madam Felicity Nelson, one of the #FixTheCountry Movement\u2019s conveners states that, Barker-Vormawor was arrested while on his way to the court.<\/p>\n
Reacting on the arrest, the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Madam Harriet Thompson, tweeted that, \u201cOliver Barker Vormawor, convener of #FixTheCountry movement, arrested again, I understand for a motoring offence on his way to court. I\u2019ll be interested to see where this goes\u2026\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Ghana Police Service, in the latest response to the British High Commissioner ‘s comments, has stated that, Madam Harriet Thompson tweet was from either a \u201cbiased or uninformed position\u201d.<\/p>\n
A letter signed by the IGP, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare stated that, \u201cOrdinarily, the Ghana Police Service would not have responded to comments such as yours, obviously made from either a biased or uninformed position\u201d.<\/p>\n
The statement added that, “However, we have learnt from a previous painful experience that it has not been helpful to ignore such misguided, unwarranted, and biased comments intended to tarnish the reputation of the Ghana Police Service and that of our country\u201d.<\/p>\n
The four page letter added that, \u201cWhat is more, we consider your tweet as a violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961 which enjoins diplomatic missions not to interfere in the internal affairs of their host country\u201d.<\/p>\n
