{"id":1104811,"date":"2022-05-30T23:32:38","date_gmt":"2022-05-30T23:32:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/05\/30\/uefa-commissions-report-into-champions-league-final-scenes\/"},"modified":"2022-05-30T23:32:38","modified_gmt":"2022-05-30T23:32:38","slug":"uefa-commissions-report-into-champions-league-final-scenes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/05\/30\/uefa-commissions-report-into-champions-league-final-scenes\/","title":{"rendered":"Uefa commissions report into Champions League final scenes\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"437\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screenshot-2022-05-30-214349-696x437.png\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Screenshot 2022-05-30 214349\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Uefa has commissioned an independent report into the scenes outside the ground that delayed Saturday\u2019s Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>Kick-off at the Stade de France in Paris was delayed by over half an hour with Liverpool ticket-holders seen waiting in huge queues, and French police later using tear gas on crowds.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday,\u00a0French authorities complained of what they called \u201cindustrial-scale\u201d ticket fraud amid a row over the game\u2019s policing.<\/p>\n<p>Uefa said a \u201ccomprehensive review\u201d would examine a number of factors.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>These include the decision-making, responsibility and behaviour of all parties involved in the final, it added.<\/p>\n<p>Uefa said in a statement: \u201cEvidence will be gathered from all relevant parties and the findings of the independent report will be made public once completed. Upon receipt of the findings, Uefa will evaluate the next steps.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report will be independently compiled and Dr Tiago Brandao Rodrigues from Portugal will lead the production of the review.<\/p>\n<p>Uefa initially blamed the \u201clate arrival\u201d of fans for the problems, delaying kick-off by 36 minutes, with Liverpool going on to lose 1-0 to Spanish champions Real Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>France\u2019s interior and sports ministers acknowledged difficulties in managing crowds at the final but have been pointing blame for the chaos at fans with fake tickets and local youths trying to force their way into the stadium.<\/p>\n<p>However, a spokesperson for France\u2019s independent police commissioner\u2019s union (SICP), Mathieu Valet, told the BBC\u2019s Newshour that \u201csupporters without tickets or with fake tickets were not the main problem\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s clear that we needed more police \u2013 we didn\u2019t have enough on the ground,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday,\u00a0Liverpool called for an investigation into the \u201cunacceptable issues\u201d faced by fans before the match.<\/p>\n<p>Many claimed they had been at the stadium hours before kick-off but were stopped from getting into the ground.<\/p>\n<p>UK sports minister Nigel Huddleston said he was \u201cvery concerned about the upsetting scenes\u201d, while Reds defender\u00a0Andy Robertson\u00a0said the organisation of the match was a \u201cshambles\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/_124978882_paris-clfinal-map-nc.png\" alt=\"Timeline of the day's events\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>            <!--  [embed]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=videoseries[\/embed]<!--\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>--><\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"FLHVdk7zxsI\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Girls educated on need for menstrual hygiene \u2013 Adom TV News (30-5-22)\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FLHVdk7zxsI?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Uefa has commissioned an independent report into the scenes outside the ground that delayed Saturday\u2019s Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid.
