\n Koforidua, May 23, GNA -Two-hundred and seventy six (276) apprentices have received National Proficiency 1 certificates in a Competency – Based Training (CBT) programme under the National Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) qualifications Framework.<\/p>\n

The participants were selected from Abuakwa North, Akuapem South, Yilo Krobo and the Abuakwa North districts to boost their trading activities in varied apprenticeship programmes.<\/div>\n
The eight-month training programme started in August 2020 and ended in April 2021 at the Liberty Specialist Institute in Koforidua, and the school is a beneficiary Institute of the partnership between Ghana and Germany on the CBT programme through the Ghana TVET Voucher Project.<\/div>\n
Mr Aikins Agyapong, Eastern Regional Coordinator for the Ghana TVET Voucher Project, explained that the CBT programme was about supporting trade apprentices to acquire skills and knowledge based competencies in their fields of work.<\/div>\n
The Ghana TVET Voucher Project, which is a flagship project of the Commission for TVET is funded by the Ghanaian-German development cooperation through KfW develomemt bank and aims to improve access of master craft persons, apprentices in the informal sector.<\/div>\n
So far about 1,500 people working in the informal sector in the various districts in the region have benefited under the programme since 2019<\/div>\n
The project covers trade areas such as cosmetology, dressmaking, hairdressing welding, electrical installation, catering and hospitality, plumbing, electronics, carpentry and other trade apprenticeship jobs.<\/div>\n
Rev.
