Akwasi Addai, aka Odike<\/strong><\/p>\n

THE RULING New Patriotic Party (NPP) has settled on the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) in Kumasi as the venue for its upcoming regional polls.<\/p>\n

But the party\u2019s decision seems to have ignited anger from two opposition political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the United Progressive Party (UPP).<\/p>\n

According to the NDC and UPP, the RCC is a state facility and a security zone, therefore the ruling NPP cannot abuse power and use the place for its internal party elections.<\/p>\n

The two opposition political parties have therefore vowed to protest this, even as it calls for going to the law court, to restrict the NPP from abusing power.<\/p>\n

NDC\u2019s Anger<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ofori Agyeman Boadi, a former MCE for Obuasi and a top NDC member in Kumasi, has stated that the NDC will not look on unconcerned for the NPP to abuse power.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a clear case of abuse of power by the ruling NPP,\u201d he stressed, asking that \u201chow can you even think of using a security zone for such a big party event?\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking on Akoma FM <\/em><\/strong>in Kumasi, Agyeman Boadi, nicknamed as \u2018Zuba\u2019 in political circles, said he would lead a demonstration against the NPP\u2019s election venue soon.<\/p>\n

According to him, the NPP has consistently abused power with their weird actions, an example is their decision to use the RCC as the election venue \u201cand we shall stop them\u201d.<\/p>\n

UPP\u2019s Threat<\/strong><\/p>\n

On his part, Akwasi Addai, aka Odike, the Founder and Leader of United Progressive Party (UPP), threatened to lead demonstration against NPPs election venue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is unacceptable and I will personally lead a demonstration in Kumasi to stop the NPP from using the RCC as their election venue,\u201d he threatened on Fox FM<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to him, he would also consider going to the law court in the coming days and make sure that the NPP is prevented from using a state facility for its party polls.<\/p>\n

The NPP is expected to elect its next batch of executives to manage the party in its stronghold of the Ashanti Region for a four-year term on Friday, May 27, 2022.<\/p>\n
