{"id":1093817,"date":"2022-05-20T12:50:12","date_gmt":"2022-05-20T12:50:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/05\/20\/police-fa-investigating-crystal-palace-boss-after-kicking-a-fan\/"},"modified":"2022-05-20T12:50:12","modified_gmt":"2022-05-20T12:50:12","slug":"police-fa-investigating-crystal-palace-boss-after-kicking-a-fan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/05\/20\/police-fa-investigating-crystal-palace-boss-after-kicking-a-fan\/","title":{"rendered":"Police &#038; FA investigating Crystal Palace boss after kicking a fan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"463\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image_2022-05-20_110602342-696x463.png\"   alt=\"Patrick Vieira was appointed Crystal Palace manager last year (Image: Stephen Pond\/Getty Images)\" title=\"Patrick Vieira was appointed Crystal Palace manager last year (Image: Stephen Pond\/Getty Images)\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Patrick Vieira was appointed Crystal Palace manager last year (Image: Stephen Pond\/Getty Images)<br \/>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Police and the Football Association are investigating after Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira was involved in an altercation with a fan following their\u00a0Premier League defeat at Everton.<\/p>\n<p>Television footage showed him being taunted by an Everton supporter as fans ran on to the pitch at full-time.<\/p>\n<p>The Frenchman appeared to kick out at the fan before being ushered away by other supporters.<\/p>\n<p>Police say they have not received a formal complaint about the incident.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMerseyside Police is investigating an altercation on the pitch at Goodison Park following the Everton v Crystal Palace match on Thursday,\u201d the force said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are working with Everton to gather all available CCTV footage and are speaking to witnesses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo formal complaint has been received and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Everton staged a stunning comeback to win and retain their top-flight status.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have nothing to say about that,\u201d Vieira said when asked about the incident during his post-match news conference.<\/p>\n<p>Everton manager Frank Lampard said: \u201cI feel for Patrick. I didn\u2019t get him at the end. I would have said, \u2018come in with us\u2019 \u2013 although he might not have wanted that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course he ran 80 yards across the pitch and it\u2019s not easy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the pitch invasion, Lampard added: \u201cIt was pure elation of fans who have come on the pitch after avoiding relegation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it is done in the right way let them stay on the pitch, let them have their moment. As long as they behave, no problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Sky Sports, former England striker Dion Dublin said: \u201cWe know how overjoyed the Everton fans are but you can\u2019t be doing that. You can\u2019t be pushing managers and pushing players, touching players and shouting in their faces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know it is only one or two who spoiled it for everyone else. Having fans on the pitch is not the way forward. We need to stop letting fans, or allowing fans to get on the pitch.
