Tariq Lamptey<\/strong><\/p>\n Brighton & Hove Albion coach, Graham Potter, has counselled Tariq Lamptey to follow his heart when contemplating whether or not to relocate from England to Ghana.<\/p>\n Chris Hughton, Black Stars Technical Advisor and former Brighton coach, wants Lamptey to change his national allegiance before the tournament.<\/p>\n The Brighton right-back has represented England, his home nation, at several levels below senior, including two appearances for the under-21s.<\/p>\n Potter said: \u201cRegardless of Tariq\u2019s situation, playing in a World Cup is going to be fantastic for any player. That\u2019s something for him to consider, but it\u2019s more about where he feels in his heart he should play. That\u2019s up to Tariq, I\u2019ll support whatever decision he makes.\u201d<\/p>\n Lamptey, who joined Brighton from Chelsea in January 2020, is a Ghanaian citizen through his parents.<\/p>\n Potter added: \u201cObviously, I\u2019ve never had to think about that decision. I\u2019d like to think it\u2019s more about how he feels in terms of who he wants to represent. There will be a family consideration.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think you take that decision necessarily from a career perspective, it\u2019s more about what feels right for him as a human being and as a footballer. That\u2019s complex.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are definitely here for him if he wants to speak about anything or ask any questions.
