A statue of Sergio Aguero has been unveiled by City to mark 10 years since his famous goal<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

Manchester City\u00a0have unveiled a statue of\u00a0Sergio Aguero\u00a0outside the Etihad Stadium to mark the 10-year anniversary of his famous title-winning goal in 2012.<\/p>\n

City posted a video on\u00a0Twitter\u00a0showing the statue, which depicts Aguero\u2019s pose after scoring the club\u2019s most historic goal of all-time in the 3-2 win over\u00a0Queens Park Rangers.<\/p>\n

Former City players including ex-captain Vincent Kompany, Yaya Toure and Joe Hart were among those to pay tribute to the Argentine, the club\u2019s record scorer with 260 goals, in the video.<\/p>\n

\u2018Truthfully, it is a very beautiful thing for me, to see myself 10 years ago is very moving,\u2019 said Aguero.<\/p>\n

\u2018In those 10 years I was able to win a lot of trophies and was able to help the club become one of the most important in the world.<\/p>\n

\u2018I am very grateful to the club for making this statue in recognition of my football career in Manchester. It is something very special.\u2019<\/p>\n

City said the statue, created by award-winning sculptor Andy Scott, celebrates Aguero\u2019s \u2018outstanding contribution to the club\u2019s success, and in particular, his pivotal role in what was arguably one of the greatest moments in sporting history for which he will be eternally remembered by Manchester City fans around the world\u2019.<\/p>\n

Aguero, who retired in December due to a heart condition, is scheduled to visit the statue at the Etihad later on Friday, which marks exactly 10 years since his goal snatched the Premier League title from rivals Manchester United on the final day of the season.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s the moment that I think changed everything,\u2019 City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018If you look at the ten years since, that was the moment that introduced what lies ahead. He is a legend of this club.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

The unveiling of the statute comes at the end of a week in which City finally secured Aguero\u2019s predecessor.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In total, Aguero would\u00a0claim 15 major honours while on the books at the Etihad Stadium\u00a0\u2013 including five top-flight crowns, one FA Cup and six League Cups.<\/p>\n
