{"id":1082645,"date":"2022-05-10T14:35:40","date_gmt":"2022-05-10T14:35:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/05\/10\/best-cocoa-farmer-lauds-government-for-alternative-fertilizer-support-to-farmers\/"},"modified":"2022-05-10T14:35:40","modified_gmt":"2022-05-10T14:35:40","slug":"best-cocoa-farmer-lauds-government-for-alternative-fertilizer-support-to-farmers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/05\/10\/best-cocoa-farmer-lauds-government-for-alternative-fertilizer-support-to-farmers\/","title":{"rendered":"Best Cocoa farmer lauds Government for alternative fertilizer support to farmers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\n                                                   Antwirifo (B\/R), May 10, GNA &#8211; Mr George Adu-Adjei, the Dormaa Central Municipal Best Cocoa Farmer, has commended the Government for making available liquid fertilizer as a substitute for the granular type fertilizer through their local farmers\u2019 Unions against the background of global shortages.<\/p>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/1.21472795.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" class=\"kMediaObject\"\/><\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">He said the Government through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture distributed the liquid fertilizers to the farmers.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Antwirifo, a farming community in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region, Mr Adu-Adjei said they (farmers) were informed that because of the high shipment cost of the fertilizer brought about by the Russian \u2013 Ukraine war, the Government was unable to procure bags of the fertilizer for onward distribution to farmers.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">He added the liquid fertilizer had been given to farmers for trials, saying it had the same potency and efficiency like the granular type.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Mr Adu-Adjei noted that the liquid fertilizer were being sold on the market at high prices, but the Government was  supplying them for free.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">He, however, appealed to the Government to extend grants, incentives, and\u202fsoft loans to farmers to enable them to expand their cocoa farms.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">He said that would offer an employment opportunity for more young men and women because some of the ageing farmers needed more farm hands to assist as their strength were declining.<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Antwirifo (B\/R), May 10, GNA &#8211; Mr George Adu-Adjei, the Dormaa Central Municipal Best Cocoa Farmer, has commended the Government for making available liquid fertilizer as a substitute for the granular type fertilizer through their local farmers\u2019 Unions against the background of global shortages.
