He has asserted that, it is as a result of populist reduction that has brought this debt to be paid by the ordinary citizens.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/e24981634574407e87fd5b501d35283c\"\/><\/p>\n<p>In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, 10th May 2022, he wrote;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It should be noted that THE PUBLIC UTILITIES REGULATORY COMMISSION established under ACT 538, 1997 has a principal mandate of regulating and overseeing the provision of utility services by public utilities to consumers.<\/p>\n<p>The PURC by practice and convention has adopted the &#8220;Automatic Tariff Adjustment Formula&#8221; to forestall any unwanted price hikes.<\/p>\n<p>It is therefore preposterous for the utility companies to propose such astronomical tariff adjustments dating back to 2019.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/ca2c379b155946529452290177ec1593\"\/><\/p>\n<p>It will be recalled that, the Minority cautioned President Akufo-Addo and the NPP when the President during the 2018 State of the Nation address decided to announce electricity tariff reductions contrary to the PURC act.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/c09b328b3b084955b5a0a5def49671c5\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Today the ordinary consumer is being called upon to pay for the debt that has accumulated from that populist reduction.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These proposed tarrif hikes are completely unacceptable and ridiculous.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Content created and supplied by: Currentworldnews (via  Opera<br \/>\nNews )<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<p class=\"copyright hide\">\n<span class=\"content\">    ,  .   ,     .
