{"id":1078827,"date":"2022-05-06T19:18:41","date_gmt":"2022-05-06T19:18:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/05\/06\/government-is-working-to-ensure-food-security\/"},"modified":"2022-05-06T19:18:41","modified_gmt":"2022-05-06T19:18:41","slug":"government-is-working-to-ensure-food-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/05\/06\/government-is-working-to-ensure-food-security\/","title":{"rendered":"Government is working to ensure food security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\n                                                   Tamale, May 6, GNA &#8211; Mr Mohammed Hardi Tufeiru, the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, has assured the public of the government\u2019s efforts at implementing strategies to achieve food security.<\/p>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/1.21470509.jpg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" class=\"kMediaObject\"\/><\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">He said measures had\u202fbeen instituted to reduce the cost of production and increase yields to enhance food availability.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Tamale, Mr Tufeiru admitted that food security had become a global concern due to the COVID-19 pandemic.\u202f<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">The Government, he said, was working tirelessly to ensure sustainable agricultural production by supporting farmers with better crop yielding seed varieties, equipment, fertilizer, access to credit and market links.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Mr Tufeiru said in easing the suffering of Ghanaians, the government had enhanced the capacity of vulnerable households, families, communities, and food system operators with various social interventions to withstand the post-Covid shocks.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">He said the private sector investment was also being sourced to improve productivity and production of maize, soybean, poultry and small ruminants.<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tamale, May 6, GNA &#8211; Mr Mohammed Hardi Tufeiru, the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, has assured the public of the government\u2019s efforts at implementing strategies to achieve food security.
