The driver suspected of causing the accident was missing.<\/p>\n<p>That car was registered to the boy\u2019s mother, they said.<\/p>\n<p>Police phoned the mum \u201cand when she spoke to her son, he made noises resembling a car and used gestures showing turning a steering wheel,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe then realised that the child may have been the driver.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After a hot chocolate at the police station and some comfort from a teddy bear, the boy was reunited with his mum, police said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CdAG7aRIWGW\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>They went with police to the crash scene together, where the boy took the keys, got inside and started the vehicle \u2013 \u201cand pressed down on the gas pedal\u201d police said.<\/p>\n<p>The boy had woken up when his dad went to work and taken his mum\u2019s car keys \u201cto go for a drive,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n<p>The mother told police she had \u201cquite a resourceful child\u201d, while police warned the parents to hide their car keys in future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew Max Verstappen found in (the Utrecht suburb of) Overvecht,\u201d police wrote on social media when reporting the incident, referring to the popular and current Dutch world champion Formula One driver.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFortunately, this mini driver\u2019s adventure has come to an end with a sizzle,\u201d the police wrote in their report.<\/p>\n<p><strong id=\"strong-c7cc8de760e59346f80da830b64565c9\">AFP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Source <\/p>\n<p><script async defer src=\"https:\/\/platform.instagram.com\/en_US\/embeds.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A four-year-old boy in the Netherlands took his mother\u2019s car for a drive before crashing into two parked cars, police said Sunday.
