{"id":1069323,"date":"2022-04-28T09:00:17","date_gmt":"2022-04-28T09:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/28\/minority-going-to-court-over-e-levy-implementation-may-be-too-late-cpp-politics\/"},"modified":"2022-04-28T09:00:17","modified_gmt":"2022-04-28T09:00:17","slug":"minority-going-to-court-over-e-levy-implementation-may-be-too-late-cpp-politics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/28\/minority-going-to-court-over-e-levy-implementation-may-be-too-late-cpp-politics\/","title":{"rendered":"Minority Going To Court Over E-Levy Implementation May Be Too Late &#8211; CPP | Politics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Ms Nana Yaa Jantuah, General Secretary of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), said the Minority in Parliament going to the Supreme Court to file an injunction against the implementation of the electronic transfer levy (E-levy) may be too late an action to take.<\/p>\n<p>Even though Ms Yaa Jantuah admitted not to know the legal ramification after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had accented the E-Levy to become a law, she said the Minority in Parliament should have taken the action when it was being tabled for discussion on the floor of Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Jantuah in an interview with the Ghana News Agency said that the legal consequence of the action taken by the Minority in Parliament was not easily predictable after the E-Levy had been signed into a law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not a lawyer but I believe that the Minority should have done whatever they wanted to do when the E-Levy was being tabled. I can interpret some laws but this one, I don\u2019t know the ramification when the President himself had accented it\u201d, she pointed out<\/p>\n<p>She, however, described the E-Levy as a \u2018punitive tax\u2019 that should not have been passed into a law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026already, the E-Levy itself is a punitive tax because I have paid my tax and you as a worker has paid your tax.
