An opposition party\u2019s prayers provoked a split between Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams and Ghana\u2019s president.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This past Sunday, April 24th, 2022, the presiding archbishop and general overseer of the Action Chapel International ministry declared men of God are not called to speak ill of leaders. \u201cThe pulpit is not to criticize or condemn leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bible doesn\u2019t tell us to hate rulers or condemn those in power, but to pray for them,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

We are not anointed to criticize those in charge; that is not my duty. The pulpit is not to criticize or criticise leaders, but to pray. If you believe in God, pray.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI exalt, therefore, that first of all supplication, prayers, intercession and giving of thanks be made for all men irrespective of their religious background; for kings, for all that are in authority and if we do that, we\u2019ll live a quiet and a peaceable life in all Godliness and honesty,\u201d the preacher said, quoting the Bible to back up his point. \u2018Speak no bad of the king of my people,\u2019 it says.<\/p>\n

During his speech, the wise man of God disclosed that a sitting president of Ghana once became irritated with him because he prayed for the opposing party.<\/p>\n

We went to see him and he was really angry toward me but \u201ckind and courteous to everyone else,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

In fact, he said, the president \u201cdidn\u2019t even recognize me\u201d. I prayed for this man for many years, even when he was opposed\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI prayed for him; he visits me often; we were that close,\u201d Archbishop Duncan-Williams said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was so nasty that when we left his office, I let everyone leave and said, \u2018Mr. President, what\u2019s going on here?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Mr. President, something is awry; what is going on?\u2019 I dislike your demeanour towards me.\u2019 \u2018Something is wrong,\u2019 I remarked.<\/p>\n

\u2018You\u2019re right; I\u2019m quite furious with you,\u2019 I responded.<\/p>\n

Archbishop Duncan-Williams recalls how a close friend of his slandered him, claiming I was praying for the opposition.<\/p>\n

\u2018I pray for the opposition and I pray for the administration, Mr. President,\u2019 I said. Why are you furious with me because I prayed for you while you were opposed?<\/p>\n

\u201cYea, it\u2019s true: I pray for all sides. That\u2019s what the Bible says. 1 Timothy 2:1\u20134 So, what\u2019s your problem?\u2019 I said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI responded, \u2018Mr. President, you\u2019re better than this,\u2019 he said. And I left. \u201cI simply left.\u201d<\/p>\n
