Lawyer and host of JoyNews\u2019 ‘Newsfile’<\/strong> programme,\u00a0Samson Lardy Anyenini has disclosed some huge allowances and benefits enjoyed by the management of some State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in Ghana.<\/p>\n It may be recalled that\u00a0the Finance Ministry\u00a0had indicated that the\u00a0SOEs were causing huge financial losses to the country to the tune of about \u00a26bn.<\/p>\n In what may seem like a confirmation of the Finance Ministry’s assertion, Samson speaking on Saturday’s edition of his programme revealed some of the SOEs\u00a0are not only receiving big salaries but\u00a0are also enjoying ‘unimaginable’ allowances like satellite tv connection and entertainment.<\/p>\n The renowned journalist gave a breakdown of some of these allowances:<\/strong><\/p>\n 1. Holiday facilities, both internal and external holidays, for not more than six persons, not more than three rooms, and for not more than five nights per year in Ghana or elsewhere, exclusive of annual.<\/p>\n 2. Retirement package is calculated at 12% of the gross salary which is to be set aside by the employer.<\/p>\n 3. Parting gift includes one top-of-the-range multimedia laptop of your choice with accessories.<\/p>\n 4. If you have been at post for more than two years, you get an additional gift valued at 50% of one month\u2019s gross salary.<\/p>\n 5. If you have been at post for two to four years you get an additional gift valued at one month\u2019s gross salary.<\/p>\n 6. If you have been at post for over 4 years you get an additional gift valued at two months\u2019 gross salary, the official saloon vehicle that you have been using will remain yours or you can procure at a discount of 50%.<\/p>\n End of service benefits for these state-owned enterprise managers:<\/strong><\/p>\n 1. Four months gross salary at the point of disengagement for every calendar year.<\/p>\n 2. Benefit of a housing loan of about \u00a26000.<\/p>\n 3. Home enhancement loan of about \u00a22000.<\/p>\n 4. Travel per diem of $1500<\/p>\n 5. Salary increases to be at 20%<\/p>\n 6. Medical care for spouse and children up to 21 years onwards<\/p>\n 7. Mandatory full medical examination yearly abroad<\/p>\n 8. Free medical care after retirement for spouse and children up to 21 years<\/p>\n 9.
