{"id":1062865,"date":"2022-04-21T11:54:54","date_gmt":"2022-04-21T11:54:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/21\/i-havent-been-fair-to-nketiah\/"},"modified":"2022-04-21T11:54:54","modified_gmt":"2022-04-21T11:54:54","slug":"i-havent-been-fair-to-nketiah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/21\/i-havent-been-fair-to-nketiah\/","title":{"rendered":"I haven&#8217;t been fair to Nketiah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"459\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/image_2022-04-21_092646841-696x459.png\"   alt=\"\" title=\"image_2022-04-21_092646841\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he \u201chas not been fair\u201d on Eddie Nketiah after the young striker scored twice in a rare start to stun Chelsea.<\/p>\n<p>The 22-year-old, who is out of contract this summer, produced two fine finishes at Stamford Bridge in only his second Premier League start of the season.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed frustration at his lack of game time and questioned his future in an interview earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI should have been playing him more,\u201d Arteta told BBC Sport.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said to him I haven\u2019t been fair.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Gunners have been in talks with Nketiah over a contract but the striker suggested he wants assurances about regular first-team football before signing a new deal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere have been talks and offers of a new contract but at the moment my aim is to play football and play regularly,\u201d he told\u00a0The Beautiful Game podcast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s my ambition and that\u2019s what I hope to do but at the same time I\u2019m at Arsenal, I love Arsenal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former England Under-21 forward has made just seven starts this season, with Saturday\u2019s match at Southampton his first in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>He was behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette but the former\u2019s January departure to Barcelona and the Frenchman\u2019s absence because of Covid has given him an opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>His double at Chelsea came a year and two days since his last Premier League goal in a 1-1 draw against Fulham.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat Eddie has done tonight is because of what he has done for the last 10 months and no-one has noticed,\u201d added Arteta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have other issues as well and that has not been easy.
