{"id":1061841,"date":"2022-04-20T11:58:48","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T11:58:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/20\/ndc-is-bigger-than-any-individual-andy-kankam-politics\/"},"modified":"2022-04-20T11:58:48","modified_gmt":"2022-04-20T11:58:48","slug":"ndc-is-bigger-than-any-individual-andy-kankam-politics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/20\/ndc-is-bigger-than-any-individual-andy-kankam-politics\/","title":{"rendered":"NDC Is Bigger Than Any Individual \u2013 Andy Kankam | Politics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Editor of the Informer Newspaper, Andy Kankam, says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) should take into serious consideration the Economic Intelligence Unit\u2019s (EIU) report, called on the party to change its leadership to win election 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The EIU report said the NDC has a higher prospect of winning the 2024 elections but that could elude them if former President John Dramani Mahama is maintained as flag bearer.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Don Kwabena Prah on Happy98.9FM\u2019s Epa Hoa Daben political talk show, he said \u201cI don\u2019t need the EIU report to tell me what is going to happen because I am a grassroot man and I know what\u2019s going on. Leadership will definitely change hands because the NDC is a strong party and not an individual.<\/p>\n<p> same candidate who was rejected in the last election is brought back, do you think it will be so easy for Ghanaians to vote for him?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to him, former President Mahama will only have one term in office if elected in 2024 \u201cthe party will then have to market another person for the next election which will be difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andy Kankam further noted that some leading members of the NDC have refused to accept the truth to change the flagbearer of the party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cthe EIU has been consistent with their prediction and the NDC should treat this report with all seriousness rather than brand it as false.\u201d He said.<\/p>\n<p>Portions of the EIU report read;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe next parliamentary and presidential elections are due in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder constitutionally mandated term limits, the incumbent President Akufo-Addo, cannot run for a third term.<br \/>\u201cThe former president, John Mahama, is reportedly considering running again, but we expect the opposition NDC to try to revitalise its prospects with a fresh candidate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur [EIU] baseline forecast is that ongoing public dissatisfaction with the slow pace of improvements in governance\u2014such as infrastructure development, job creation and easing of corruption\u2014will trigger anti-incumbency factors and push the electorate to seek a change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NDC, therefore, stands a reasonable chance of winning the 2024 elections.\u201d<br \/>C<\/p>\n<h3><strong\/><\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"peace_black_text_4\">Source: ghanaweb.com<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" style=\"clear:both\">\n<tr>\n<td><span class=\"peace_red_text_1\">Disclaimer<\/span>: <span class=\"peace_ash_text_1\">Opinions expressed here are those of the writers and do not reflect those of Peacefmonline.com.
