{"id":1061539,"date":"2022-04-20T06:16:50","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T06:16:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/20\/mahama-leading-ndc-in-2024-will-boost-breaking-the-8-agenda\/"},"modified":"2022-04-20T06:16:50","modified_gmt":"2022-04-20T06:16:50","slug":"mahama-leading-ndc-in-2024-will-boost-breaking-the-8-agenda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/20\/mahama-leading-ndc-in-2024-will-boost-breaking-the-8-agenda\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Mahama leading NDC in 2024 will boost breaking the 8&#8217; agenda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has welcomed the Economic Intelligence Unit\u2019s five-year forecast for Ghana\u2019s 2024 general election.<\/p>\n<p>The party in a statement indicated that the EIU\u2019s analysis introduces \u201ca new and significant\u201d factor to Ghana\u2019s eight-year political cycle.<\/p>\n<p>The EIU has tipped the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win the 2024 elections on the condition that it will field another candidate, apart from former President John Dramani Mahama as its candidate for the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>The NPP sided with the EIU\u2019s predictions, saying Mahama\u2019s selection as Flagbearer will be a \u201chuge boost to the NPP\u2019s effort of breaking the 8\u201d, since the NPP\u2019s candidate will have a \u201cbetter governance record based on the cumulative achievements of the NPP in the 4th Republic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, the EIU does not tell us how the NDC will come by its slim majority in Parliament. But given that Mahama is already the putative candidate, the EIU can comfortably say \u201cwe told you so\u201d when the NPP breaks the eight with quality leadership and a strong policy performance that continues to deliver employment, increased infrastructure, and a higher profile against corruption,\u201d a statement signed by the Director of Communications for the NPP, Yaw Buaben Asamoa said.<\/p>\n<p>Although the EIU cites slow governance progress as another reason for change in 2024, the NPP is sceptical, as it believes its cumulative record in the 4th Republic shows more promising results than the NDC\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe EIU cites slow governance progress as another reason for change in 2024.
