Spoilers follow for<\/i> Life and Beth.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n If you\u2019ve watched the first season Amy Schumer\u2018s Hulu show Life and Beth<\/i>, you probably know that her character Beth struggled with trichotillomania \u2014 a disorder that causes people to pull out their hair \u2014 as a child.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last month, the comedian and actor revealed that she also lives with the disorder.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n \u201cI\u2019m proud that my big secret only hurts me,\u201d she said about the decision to open up, \u201cbut it\u2019s been what I\u2019ve carried so much shame about for so long.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n During a recent appearance on Howard Stern\u2019s show, Amy opened up more about living with her condition and how it made her feel \u201cugly and unloveable\u201d when she was younger.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n During the interview, Amy revealed that she pulled out so much hair at the age of 13 that she had to wear a wig to school. \u201cAnd it was humiliating, and it was really hard,\u201d she said of the experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n \u201cI ate my lunch in the nurse\u2019s office because I heard someone say that I made them sick.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n Amy said that, despite her struggle as a teenager, she tried to convince herself that she \u201cwas okay.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n \u201cMy mom was especially horrified and upset by it.
