You know Jennifer Aniston \u2014 but you probably didn\u2019t know that she\u2019s struggled with sleep issues, including insomnia and sleepwalking, for years.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n In a recent interview with People, the actor said she started struggling with sleep issues nearly 20 years ago, \u201cSomewhere in my 30s or even earlier.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n \u201cYou just don\u2019t start to notice the effects of a lack of sleep when we\u2019re younger because we\u2019re so invincible,\u201d she told the publication, after describing the act of heading off to bed as \u201calmost like walking the plank.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n \u201cIt began as something that I would just accept and then all of a sudden you realize the effects of your lack of sleep and how it affects your day and your work and your mind function and your physique.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n \u201cAnd the more I worry about it, the harder it is to fall asleep,\u201d she added, after mentioning that she was even committing the \u201cbig no-no\u201d of watching the clock while trying to get some Z\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n At one point, her sleep issues extended to sleepwalking. \u201cI\u2019ve been woken up by house alarms going off that I\u2019ve set off,\u201d she explained. \u201cAnd I don\u2019t think I do that anymore \u2014 that was when I was super sleep deprived.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n \u201cThe body is saying, \u2018Now don\u2019t go out and set the alarm off again, okay?’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n As Jennifer continued to struggle with insomnia, she eventually reached the point where she sought professional help to deal with the issue.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n \u201c[Y]ou can\u2019t really abide by the three pillars of health \u2014 which are diet, exercise and sleep \u2014 if you can\u2019t really exercise and you can\u2019t really eat right if you haven\u2019t slept well because your body clock is so completely thrown off.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n Along with medical help, Jennifer says she\u2019s adapted to specific routines to encourage healthy sleep \u2014 such as not having her phone in the bedroom and trying to go to bed at the same time every night.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n Sounds like some good tips!
