[George Maringa, Standard]<\/p>\n<p><h4 class=\"read\"><span>KEEP READING<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The demonstrators converged 12 days after 27-year-old Vanita Senghani was found dead in her Temple Flats home, Langata on April 3.\n<\/p>\n<p>Disturbing images on social media showed Vanita\u2019s neck tied to window grills, with her feet touching the floor.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are all here to seek justice for Vanita. Some people claim she died by suicide. Some of us, however, suspect it wasn\u2019t suicide, but murder. We don\u2019t know the truth, but we\u2019re all here to find justice,\u201d Manji Patel told <em>The Standard.<\/em> <\/p>\n<p>The crowd blamed Samaj, the association that takes care of the Indian community\u2019s welfare, for negligence.\n<\/p>\n<p>Vanita had allegedly filed several complaints to Samaj about domestic violence. The protesters alleged that the association ignored her cries for help.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want justice for Vanita, our daughter. We want justice for every woman, every sister who is going through domestic abuse,\u201d said Ranjinah Barich.\n<\/p>\n<p>Nirali Madiola reiterated Barich\u2019s concerns.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one should take advantage of women. We shouldn\u2019t continue being silent as this vulnerable group suffers in marriages and relationships,\u201d said Madiola. <\/p>\n<p>Vanita\u2019s body was cremated on April 4, a day after her death.\n<\/p>\n<p>The demonstrators said that not even members of her nuclear family were present during cremation as tradition demands.\n<\/p>\n<p>Samaj association, which has been adversely mentioned, declined to comment on the matter, saying Vanita\u2019s death was under investigation.\n<\/p>\n<p>The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) told <em>The Standard<\/em> that the Homicide department has made progress with the probe.\n<\/p>\n<p>Vanita Senghani is survived by three children, two of them are 50-day old twins.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<b class=\"m-2\">Share this story<\/b>\n<\/p>\n<p><h4 class=\"read\"><span>RELATED VIDEOS<\/span><\/h4><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is mid-morning Friday, April 15, and hundreds of demonstrators from the Indian community have gathered at Shree Devshibhai Dhanji Memorial Hall in Nairobi West. \u201cJustice for Vanita, justice for the kids,\u201d they chant from afar.
