{"id":1052615,"date":"2022-04-11T11:50:21","date_gmt":"2022-04-11T11:50:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/11\/e-levy-gra-to-engage-finance-ministry-over-some-key-anomalies\/"},"modified":"2022-04-11T11:50:21","modified_gmt":"2022-04-11T11:50:21","slug":"e-levy-gra-to-engage-finance-ministry-over-some-key-anomalies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/11\/e-levy-gra-to-engage-finance-ministry-over-some-key-anomalies\/","title":{"rendered":"E-levy: GRA to engage Finance Ministry over some key anomalies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"443\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/1637313940_944_40109969.295-Copy-696x443.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"MoMo\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mobile money has improved the efficiency of money transactions<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has revealed it will engage the Finance Ministry to resolve key anomalies in the Electronic Transactions Levy (E-levy), which could significantly impact some Ghanaians when the tax is implemented.<\/p>\n<p>A Principal Revenue Officer and Head of the Project Management Unit for GRA, Isaac Kobina Amoako, admitted that salaries paid through mobile money will attract E-levy, even though the salary would have already been taxed.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the current framework created by the law, as it stands, does not distinguish a corporate mobile money account and an individual mobile money account.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Amoako added that potential challenges that may accompany this situation have come to the attention of the Authority; hence, all such concerns will be forwarded to the Finance Ministry with the hopes of having them addressed.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is something that has come to our attention; we\u2019ve referred it to our superiors to look at it. But, for now, the law seems to have captured everybody, including disbursements from corporate mobile accounts.
