lauds Industry for COVID-19 intervention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\n                                                   Accra, April 09, GNA \u2013 Mr Michael Okyere Baafi, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, has lauded the beverage industry for its intervention to curb the spread of the COVID-19 during its peak period.<\/p>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/1.21452795.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" class=\"kMediaObject\"\/><\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Before they were consulted, he said through a statement read on his behalf, industry players produced sanitisers and other COVID-19 personal protective equipment to reduce the spread of the virus among the public, which was highly commendable.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">He gave the commendation at the 6th Edition of the Ghana Beverage Awards (GBA) organised by the Global Media Alliance in Accra, on the theme: \u201cInspiring Excellence in Ghana\u2019s Beverage Industry\u201d.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Mr Baafi underscored the consistent demonstration of a sense of responsibility of the industry through giving back to society and caring for the environment and the residents of the communities in which they operated through varied forms of corporate social responsibility activities.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">He entreated industry players to collaborate with stakeholders to work to bounce back completely from the effects of the pandemic.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Mr Mark Okraku Mantey, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, who said beverages had become a part of the public\u2019s lifestyle and a necessity for body rejuvenation, nourishment and a servant of many occasions, said the government could not overlook the important role they played in the Ghanaian economy, by creating jobs and generating revenues through payment of taxes.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">He said they also supported the arts and culture industries by sponsoring events and encouraged them to do more to help uplift other industries that depended on support like theirs.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Mr Mantey said the Ministry projected to generate US$2.3 billion through the beverage industry by 2022 and implored their cooperation to achieve that for national growth.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Ms Emma Wenani, the Director, of Global Media Alliance (GMA), underscored the need to recognise the beverage industry for its impact on society and best practices.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">She expressed satisfaction with the interest companies expressed to partake in the award categories and how much the public vibrantly voted for the \u201cProduct of the Year\u201d category.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">After the awarding ceremony, she said the GMA would follow up to ensure that companies were continually working under strict hygienic conditions, were certified, and satisfied consumer needs.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Ms Wenani said more categories were introduced in this edition based on feedback from stakeholders over previous editions, hence the reason for adding international beverages categories in the edition.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Under the 18-category Awarding ceremony, \u201cCoca Cola\u201d was adjudged the \u201cProduct of the Year\u201d, \u201cCeres\u201d as \u201cFruit Drink of the Year\u201d, \u201cGuinness\u201d as the \u201cBeer of the Year\u201d, \u201cCoca Cola\u201d as the \u201cCarbonated Soft Drink of the Year\u201d, \u201cKpoo Keke\u201d as the \u201cLiqueur of the Year\u201d, \u201cJameson Irish Whisky\u201d as the \u201cInternational Spirit of the Year\u201d and \u201cHollandia Yoghurt\u201d as the \u201cDairy Product of the Year\u201d.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Others were \u201cAlomo Bitters\u201d as \u201cBitters of the Year\u201d, \u201cSeagram\u2019s Imperial Blue Whisky\u201d as \u201cInternational Liqueur of the Year\u201d, \u201cDarling Lemon\u201d as \u201cSpirit of the Year\u201d, \u201cDjango Ginger Ale\u201d as \u201cRTD of the Year\u201d, \u201cVitamilk Choco\u201d as \u201cCocoa\/Chocolate Product of the Year\u201d, \u201cHeineken\u201d as the \u201cInternational Beer of the Year\u201d, and \u201cRush Energy Drink\u201d as \u201cEnergy Drink of the Year\u201d.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">The rest were \u201cSahara Solace\u201d as the \u201cNew Beverage of the Year\u201d, \u201cVerna\u201d as \u201cWater of the Year\u201d, \u201cCoca Cola Company Limited\u201d as \u201cCSR Company of the Year\u201d, and \u201cTwellium Industry Limited\u201d as \u201cManufacturing Company of the Year\u201d.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">GBA is supported by the Food and Beverage Association of Ghana, Consumer Protection Agency, Food Research Institute under Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Perception Management International, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of
