{"id":1050489,"date":"2022-04-09T10:41:00","date_gmt":"2022-04-09T10:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/09\/implementation-of-e-levy-to-start-from-may-1-gra\/"},"modified":"2022-04-09T10:41:00","modified_gmt":"2022-04-09T10:41:00","slug":"implementation-of-e-levy-to-start-from-may-1-gra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/09\/implementation-of-e-levy-to-start-from-may-1-gra\/","title":{"rendered":"Implementation of E-Levy to start from May 1 \u2013 GRA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is serving notice that the implementation of the Electronic Transfer Levy also called \u2018E-Levy\u2019 will commence on May 1, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>According to the GRA, the decision was influenced by Parliament passing the E-Levy Bill.<br \/>The E-Levy applies to all electronic transfers.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a list of transactions that are covered and not covered by the controversial E-levy.<\/p>\n<p>Transactions to be affected by E-levy<\/p>\n<p>Mobile money transfers between accounts on the same electronic money issuer (EMI),<\/p>\n<p>Mobile money transfers from an account on one EMI to a recipient on another EMI,<\/p>\n<p>Transfers from bank accounts to mobile money accounts,<\/p>\n<p>Transfer from mobile money accounts to bank accounts, and<\/p>\n<p>Bank transfers on a digital platform or application which originate from a bank account belonging to an individual to another individual.<\/p>\n<p>Transactions exempted from E-levy<\/p>\n<p>Cumulative transfers of GHC100 per day made by the same person,<\/p>\n<p>Transfers between accounts owned by the same person,<\/p>\n<p>Transfers for the payment of taxes, fees and charges on the Ghana.gov platform,<\/p>\n<p>Electronic clearing of cheques,<\/p>\n<p>Specified merchant payments (that is, payments to commercial establishments registered with the GRA for income tax and VAT purposes), and<\/p>\n<p>Transfers between principal, master agent and agent\u2019s accounts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Vincent Kubi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- AI CONTENT END 2 -->\n\t<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is serving notice that the implementation of the Electronic Transfer Levy also called \u2018E-Levy\u2019 will commence on May 1, 2022.
