{"id":1049821,"date":"2022-04-08T16:50:40","date_gmt":"2022-04-08T16:50:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/08\/e-levy-implementation-to-start-from-may-1st-2022-gra\/"},"modified":"2022-04-08T16:50:40","modified_gmt":"2022-04-08T16:50:40","slug":"e-levy-implementation-to-start-from-may-1st-2022-gra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/08\/e-levy-implementation-to-start-from-may-1st-2022-gra\/","title":{"rendered":"E-Levy implementation to start from May 1st, 2022 \u2013 GRA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"480\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ghana-revenue-authority-696x480.jpg\"   alt=\"GRA\" title=\"GRA logo\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ghana Revenue Authority<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has announced May 1st, 2022 as the implementation date for the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy).<\/p>\n<p>In a notice served by the GRA, it said the decision was influenced by the passage of the E-Levy bill by Parliament.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large td-caption-align-https:\/\/www.adomonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/GRA-E-levy.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/GRA-E-levy-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2102537\"  \/><\/figure>\n<p>The E-Levy will impose 1.50% on all electronic transfers, as it will affect electronic transfer at the time transfer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Areas of coverage<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>The levy will apply to mobile money transfers done between accounts on the same electronic money issuer and mobile money transfers from an account on one electronic money issuer to a recipient on another electronic money issuer.<\/p>\n<p>Others are transfers from bank accounts to mobile money accounts and transfers from mobile money accounts to bank accounts<\/p>\n<p>However, bank transfers on an instant pay digital platform or application originating from a bank account to an individual subject to a daily threshold will be determined by the Minister of Finance.<\/p>\n<p>The E-Levy was introduced by the government in the 2022 Budget on basic transactions related to digital payments and electronic platform transactions.<\/p>\n<p>The rate would apply to electronic transactions that are more than \u00a2100 daily.
