{"id":1047761,"date":"2022-04-07T06:09:09","date_gmt":"2022-04-07T06:09:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/07\/private-health-facilities-threaten-strike-over-unpaid-nhis-claims-health\/"},"modified":"2022-04-07T06:09:09","modified_gmt":"2022-04-07T06:09:09","slug":"private-health-facilities-threaten-strike-over-unpaid-nhis-claims-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/04\/07\/private-health-facilities-threaten-strike-over-unpaid-nhis-claims-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Private Health Facilities Threaten Strike Over Unpaid NHIS Claims | Health"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Private Health Facilities Association of Ghana has threatened an industrial action due to government\u2019s failure to pay claims for National Health Insurance Scheme.<\/p>\n<p>According to the General Secretary of the association, Frank Torblu Richard, health care delivery is being compromised due to arrears dating as far back as nine months.<\/p>\n<p>Government is said to owe the association about GH\u00a2150 million.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the media on April 5, 2022, Mr. Torblu made some requests to government and threatened to withdraw their services if government hesitates to meet their demands.<\/p>\n<p>The association stated that \u201cwe want the National Health Insurance Levy revenue to remain intact, so we don\u2019t find ourselves in the state we are today,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It stressed that the National Health Insurance Levy money should not be used \u201cto support some other programmes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Private Health Facilities Association of Ghana is also asking government \u201cto expedite action to review the medicine and tariff list to reflect the current economic prices, so we can comfortably be in business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said his outfit wants to meet the Health Ministry to discuss possible support from the government because \u201cwe are all working towards the achievement of SDG III.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFailure on the part of the authorities to comply with the set timelines, we will not hesitate to partially withdraw our services from everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His association maintains that the NHIS is in a precarious situation and in distress and \u201cneeds an immediate lifeline, to survive.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><strong\/><\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"peace_black_text_4\">Source: Ghanaweb.com<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" style=\"clear:both\">\n<tr>\n<td><span class=\"peace_red_text_1\">Disclaimer<\/span>: <span class=\"peace_ash_text_1\">Opinions expressed here are those of the writers and do not reflect those of Peacefmonline.com.
