Vice President Dr. Bawumia yesterday had the honour of meeting the Female National Under 20 team, the Black Princesses.<\/p>\n
This was when they called on him at the Jubilee House (presidency).<\/p>\n
He could not but thank them on behalf of the government and the people of Ghana congratulated them on their qualification to the Female Under 20 World Cup to be held in Costa Rica between August 10-28, 2022.<\/p>\n
He described the feat as remarkable since it was the Princesses\u20196th qualification.<\/p>\n
Even though he said it has not been an easy journey, he believed they can make history by bringing the cup home.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have this feeling that you are going beyond the group stage this time\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n
The Vice President promised the Princesses a special package from the President for their qualifications whilst pledging the nation\u2019s support.<\/p>\n
On his part, the Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif said the recent successes in Ghana\u2019s sports were largely due to the huge investments in the sector.<\/p>\n
When the Akufo-Addo led NPP government took over the reins of the country\u2019s administration, there were only two Astro turfs.<\/p>\n

They have, however, managed to build over 80 across the country.<\/p>\n
President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku confirmed the Minister\u2019s belief that the recent successes in the sports sector are due to the huge investments of government which he said were beginning to yield results.<\/p>\n
For the first time in the history of Ghana football, he said the Women\u2019s Premier League (WPL) is beamed on live television.<\/p>\n
The commitment of the Princesses, he said was to go beyond the group stages of the competition and thus urged the government to continue to support them to achieve that feat.<\/p>\n
Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Akosua Frema Osei Opare could not hide her excitement at the Princesses qualification.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s come back here with the cup\u201d, was her charge.<\/p>\n
She pledged the country\u2019s support, with a promise to visit them in course of their camping.<\/p>\n
