{"id":1040100,"date":"2022-03-30T21:26:05","date_gmt":"2022-03-30T21:26:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/03\/30\/all-you-need-to-know-about-e-levy\/"},"modified":"2022-03-30T21:26:05","modified_gmt":"2022-03-30T21:26:05","slug":"all-you-need-to-know-about-e-levy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/03\/30\/all-you-need-to-know-about-e-levy\/","title":{"rendered":"All you need to know about E-levy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"464\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Budget-2020-17-1-696x464.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Ken Ofori-Atta\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ken Ofori-Atta, Finance Minister <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Ministry of Finance has released a list of questions that are likely to be asked by members of the general public in respect of the Electronic Transactions Levy (e-Levy) and provided answers to them.<\/p>\n<p>This follows the passage of the E-levy Bill on Tuesday by a Majority-sided House after members of the Minority walked out during the consideration stage.<\/p>\n<p>It, thus, appears that all is set for the implementation of the tax policy even as President Akufo-Addo is yet to assent to the Bill.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, his outfit has had discussions with the Controller and Accountant General\u2019s Department (CAGD) and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) towards a smooth implementation of the policy.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>Speaking in an interview with journalists in Parliament on Wednesday on the sidelines of the 2022 State of the Nation Address (SONA), Mr. Ofori-Atta said the CAGD and GRA \u201chave indicated to us that, right at the beginning of May, they should be able to get their systems together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the document made available on Social media therefore, the Ministry provided answers to pertinent questions such as; What is the E-levy?, What is the rate of the levy?, Why has government decided to levy electronic transfers?
