Dua Lipa is being sued for copyright infringement by a band called Artikal Sound System, who have claimed she ripped off their song \u201cLive Your Life\u201d for her hit single \u201cLevitating\u201d.<\/p>\n
The 26-year-old singer enjoyed huge success with her 2020 hit but a band called Artikal Sound System are seeking to claim the profits from the track because they believe she has ripped off their 2017 reggae single \u201cLive Your Life\u201d.<\/p>\n
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the band believe Dua and her team heard their song and came up with a carbon copy in \u2018Levitating\u2019.<\/p>\n
Although they haven\u2019t explained why they feel that is the case in the lawsuit, there are similarities in the sound of the two songs, particularly the choruses.<\/p>\n
Artikal Sound System have also named Dua\u2019s label Warner Records and others as defendants and are seeking any profits made on the song, plus damages.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for Dua has yet to comment.<\/p>\n
The \u201cOne Kiss\u201d hitmaker recently revealed that she has been working on her new album and already has a \u201cvision\u201d and a name for the record.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cI\u2019ve done a big chunk of writing: It\u2019s starting to take shape; I\u2019ve got a lot of it recorded.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has a vision. It has a name, I think \u2013 for now. It\u2019s just been fun experimenting. I\u2019m always going to make pop music, but it has its own unique sound, which is exciting and something that feels like a movement from \u2018Future Nostalgia\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s still in baby form, so we\u2019ll see as it progresses. In all honesty, it\u2019s probably not what my fans want to hear, but I\u2019m in no rush.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dua released her last album, \u201cFuture Nostalgia\u201d, in 2020 but the award-winning star never knew that \u2018Levitating\u2019 would become such a big hit.<\/p>\n
She confessed: \u201cI can never preempt what song people are going to react to the best but \u2018Levitating\u2019 was the first song that helped dictate the rest of the album.\u201d<\/p>\n
