She lamented that he never thought that even the police, Gauteng police precisely, would also make that mistake. The lady went to Twitter to register her displeasure, saying that it is a mark of disrespect to South Africa to hang the flag upside down. She noted that this coming from the police is the more reason it is disdainful. Furthermore, she wrote, \u201cAbsolutely shocking that @SAPoliceService in Gauteng can host an event showcasing our national flag UPSIDE DOWN, get it RIGHT, have some respect.\u00a0It has been 28 years\u201d. The lady also shared some pictures of other government establishments where the flag was also hanged upside down. She shared about eight (8) of such pictures.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/9b73fc71279447c29b3e521b765b57bd\"\/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/73fb7a2f69fb415c947303b7473b44a6\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/2ddff7b1911d4c4498dd9ee7d26567db\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/c2bc35515d3241fe904dd55a91852bd0\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Many people who reacted to her statement said that they are not surprised because, the nation is \u201cwalking upside down\u201d as a result of the ANC leadership. They noted that hanging the flag upside down is not an insult but a reality because many things are going wrong in the country now. A South African youth and social media user who responded to the article said, \u201cA flag upside down is the symbol for a country distressed. I think it\u2019s a very Apt display from SAPS. Nothing wrong with it\u2026 An upside-down flag is usually a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property. It\u2019s not wrong\u2026\u201d. Another person added that we must make it a point of duty to teach the upcoming generations how properly to hang the flag and which direction is facing up. He again added,\u201d \u2026 when a country is distressed you hang the flag upside down.\u00a0Maybe not a mistake, but a subtle admission that they are failing against the overpowering crime and corruption.
