KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi is rumored to be the one who will replace Commissioner Khehla Sitole.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Commissioner Mkhwananzi is not new to the position as he had acted before Sitole was appointed. For that reason, he stands as the preferred candidate for the position. The office of the president announced the termination of Khehla\u2019s contract after the two had a long talk in closed doors. The decision was said to be the best for the country and not for any individual. Sitole has up until the 31st of March to leave the office of the commissioner.<\/p>\n

Ramaphosa thanked Sitole for the construction discussion the two had of his termination of the contract as the national commissioner. A source told the media that since the termination of Sitole\u2019s contract the name of Lt General Mkhwananzi has been on everyone\u2019s lips. This has been happening after a fallout after fallout between Sitole and Police Minister Bheki Cele during a security cluster meeting. Mkhwanazi became acting national commissioner after former president Jacob Zuma fired Bheki Cele in 2012.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When the unrest happened in July last year the two bullies did not see eye to the eye making it hard to work together to control the unrest and the violence that took place last year. KwaZulu-Natal provincial commissioner Mkhwananzi took the place of the national commissioner on temporary terms when he went to Nkandla to control the fans of Zuma. These went to Nkandla to try and prevent Zuma from being arrested as Sitole went into hiding. Mkhwanazi made headlines last year during the Human Rights Commission inquiry on the unrest when he labeled former defense minister Nosiviwe Nqakula a liar.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sitole accused Mkhwananzi of plotting against him with EFF leader Julius Malema during the State of the National Address. Sitole responded and revealed that the meeting with Malema was organized by Deputy Minister Cassel Mathale to discuss Malema\u2019s security.\u00a0The EFF has described Ramaphosa\u2019s decision to terminate Sitole\u2019s contract as cowardice. Though other political parties praised Ramaphosa for axing him and said it was a good move. Andrew Whitefield said that the details of Sitole\u2019s dismissal were scant and the public deserves to know if there was a golden handshake Sitole is joining a long list of commissioners who didn\u2019t finish their term. Among them are Jackie Selebi, Bheki Cele, and Riah Phiyega.<\/p>\n
