The Tragedy of Whoonga Smokers \u2013 The drug from \u2018Hell\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I have recently discussed the consequences and side effects of certain street drugs that are destroying the lives of our youth and youngsters. These drugs are highly addictive and damages its users severely. They are cheap and widely available. Today we look at Whoonga, a ruthless drug which takes its users straight down to the gutters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0What is Whoonga? It is a concoction of various substances: low grade heroin, rat poison, soap powder and the main ingredient \u2013 anti-retrovirals (ARVs) or AIDS medication. Whoonga is distributed around as a fine white powder which is added to marijuana and\/or tobacco. This mixture is smoked.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Whoonga is a highly addictive drug. One hit can get you hooked. Some side effects are violence and aggression, especially when the addict doesn\u2019t get his\/her fix. Other side-effects include: anxiety, aggression, stomach cramps, slowing down of the heart rate and lungs. If taken in overdose, heart and lung function reduction becomes fatal. We can thus see that this drug is brutal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The users of this dangerous substance often appear to be spaced out and out of touch with reality. Some look raggedy and they roam and live on the streets or broken down shelters. They resort to anything from crime to prostitution to get their next fix and this exposes them to stds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0There have been several frightening reports of HIV patients getting robbed of their ARV meds. The ARV meds are one of the ingredients required to make this toxic concoction.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It is imperative that we educate ourselves about the dangerous consequences of drugs and teach our kids about these consequences. Their future looks bleak for anyone who is on drugs. They can mess up their health and shorten their lifespans.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
