Racism is a touchy subject. Some try to argue that it\u2019s long over while others are insistent that its modern forms continue penetrating through spaces that are anti-black but in secret.<\/p>\n

The latest advert for Lacoste male shoes<\/strong> didn\u2019t sit quite well with the majority of black tweeps on social media.<\/p>\n

The post, which was sponsored and shown to a large audience on Facebook, was captioned \u201cNew Lacoste Shoes! Put your best foot forward with our new men\u2019s sneakers. Shop online and in stores now\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In hindsight, there\u2019s nothing wrong with the advertisement but if you take a few more seconds scrutinizing the post, you notice something that should not be taken lightly.<\/p>\n

We have a terrible history with racism so I don\u2019t think it\u2019s wise for big corporate companies to act blind to the insinuations that some of their ignorance might have.<\/p>\n

On the advert, a Black man\u2019s face is shown but it is not him who wears the shoes. It is the white guy whose feet rest on the black guy.<\/p>\n

For such a big that surely knows how sensitive people are, how did Lacoste miss such a massive insult? How did they all sit down, do the planning and have no one realize that having a white man step on a black man\u2019s shoulders would be interpreted as racist online?<\/p>\n

The only sensible explanation that comes out is that there\u2019s no diversity in the planning room because it would have been picked up quickly.<\/p>\n

On Twitter, where the post was screenshot and shed, Chris Excel wrote, \u201cWe will wait for Julius Malema to give us a go-ahead\u2026[What kind of insult is this]?<\/strong><\/p>\n

More tweeps added to the frustration and said of how insensitive it is that Lacoste thought it\u2019s okay to show the world such an advert and meet no repercussions. So far, the protests will be held online. <\/p>\n
