Raydson Lehlogonolo Ntsala (35); used his IT skills to hack and rob a woman of R350 000; the woman was in the middle of discussing the investment of the funds with her broker; when Ntsala intervened with his fraudulant intent.<\/p>\n

In late 2017; the unnamed victim; visited her daughter in Germany; this is when Ntsala pounced on the victim; using the window of when she was outside the country; and would not have easily contacted her broker to verify many details.<\/p>\n

The deal between the broker and the woman was on the table; so there was nothing alarming to her; when she received an email directing her to where she was supposed to deposit the funds.<\/p>\n

The woman was none the wiser; that her computer had been hacked by Ntsala; who was now posing as her broker. She went on to authorise the amount of R350 000 to be paid into Ntsala\u2019s account after she received the computer hacker\u2019s email.<\/p>\n

According to the spokesperson for the Hawks in Gqeberha; Captain Yolisa Mgolodela; after authorising the transfer of the funds; the victim contacted the broker and checked if everything was in order; she got a shock of her life to discover that; the broker had no idea what she was talking about.<\/p>\n

They later established that the email had emanated from a hacker; with malicious intent. The matter was reported to the Hawks leading to the accused; being finally arrested in Rustenberg; on 28 January 2021.<\/p>\n

He was released on R2000 bail and was eventually convicted on 14 October 2021.<\/p>\n

The Gqeberha Regional court; ordered the fraudster; to repay the victim as part of his sentence. The computer hacker was ordered to pay the victim R3500 per month; until the R350 000; he stole is \u2018paid in full.\u2019<\/p>\n

Ntsala; must immediately pay R10 000 and thereafter he must pay the victim R3500 per month until the balance is settled; all this is estimated to take approximately eight years.<\/p>\n

Ntsala was sentenced to three years of correctional supervision; and ordered to repay his victim in instalments; after committing the fraud in 2017.<\/p>\n

This should be a lesson for young IT specialists who hide behind keyboards and think they are invincible and untrceable; that crime does not pay.<\/p>\n
