{"id":1002958,"date":"2022-02-24T12:56:39","date_gmt":"2022-02-24T12:56:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/02\/24\/sack-adwoa-safo-kojo-mpiani-charges-akufo-addo\/"},"modified":"2022-02-24T12:56:39","modified_gmt":"2022-02-24T12:56:39","slug":"sack-adwoa-safo-kojo-mpiani-charges-akufo-addo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/02\/24\/sack-adwoa-safo-kojo-mpiani-charges-akufo-addo\/","title":{"rendered":"Sack Adwoa Safo &#8211; Kojo Mpiani charges Akufo-Addo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"464\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/2020-Budget-in-Parliament-6-696x464.jpeg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Adwoa Safo\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sarah Adwoa Safo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>A former Chief of Staff in the Kufuor administration, Kojo Mpiani, has challenged President Nana Akufo-Addo to sack embattled Gender Minister, Sarah Adwoa Safo, for rejecting the New Patriotic Party\u2019s (NPP) overtures to return to Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>Since Parliament resumed sittings this year, the Dome Kwabenya Member of Parliament (MP) has been in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Her absence is said to be seriously affecting the Majority side and its ability to do government business in the House, particularly the E-levy.<\/p>\n<p>As some want disciplinary measures to be taken against her immediately, others want the government to consider options, including expelling her from the party.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>In an interview on JoyNews\u2019 <strong>Upfront<\/strong>, Wednesday, Mr Mpiani asked the President to relieve her of her post as the Gender Minister if she does not resign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou were appointed by the President, I have given you a job to do; so, if you are not doing the job, what should I do as a President? You either resign from the job, or I sack you. I don\u2019t see the real problem there\u2026begging a minister to work; it never happens anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve given you a job to do as a Minister, you didn\u2019t come to me, or anybody asked me to appoint you. Maybe I saw something good in you, so I appointed you to be a Minister of State. You\u2019re not going to work, and you want me to come and beg you to work? It shouldn\u2019t happen that way; that should never happen,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Mpiani urged the President to lead the charge for consensus building with the Minority Caucus to ensure smooth implementation of government business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should be looking at a better way, the best way of resolving such issues [in Parliament]. We shouldn\u2019t go to Parliament and be fighting there; we won\u2019t agree, we agree. I think that\u2019s not the way to go now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way to go is that leadership should now consult; leadership should convince, leadership should accept consensus so that for the next three years, the country can move on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked about who should lead this charge, Mr Mpiani replied, \u201cthe leadership, the President, and the leadership of the House.
