He disclosed in a tweet this night that the South Africa Government usually fulfil only 5% of all their Electoral promises. He wrote, “South Africa must have one of the few Governments in the world that delivers only 5% of what they promised but still applauds themselves for doing it”. As you know, Simeon Grindrod is one of the most popular critics of the government of President Cyril Ramaphosa, and he frequently points out the faults in a kind of constructive criticism. There is no political party that he spares in his criticism, and he also frequently commends any good venture or project that would benefit the people. Recall that some other people are also saying the same thing, declaring that they no longer take the government of South Africa serious, especially when campaign promises are concerned.

It should be noted that most of these politicians make bogus promises during election campaigns just to win voters and subsequently, they never even fulfil 20% of such promises. In fact, most of them know that they are not going to fulfil the promises, but they dish it out to the electorates and make them hopeful. This is the reason many voters are left broken-hearted when all these Electoral promises are not fulfilled. Some politicians go as far as campaigning on xenophobic background, citing statement against foreigners and immigrants. This is the tactic being employed by these new political parties in South Africa. These political parties concentrate their energy on foreigners and immigrants without generating any economic plan or agenda. This is very pathetic. Xenophobia alone will not improve the economy. Many Electoral promises die as soon as the politicians leave the podium.

Recall that the traditional rulers accused President Cyril Ramaphosa of lying to them and not fulfilling his promises to them during the last national election. Similarly, the people of Alex complained that the housing units he promised them is not forthcoming. Some other youths said that the jobs he said he will create are nowhere to be found. The failed Electoral promises are too numerous to mention, and during the next election, more promises will be added to the unfulfilled ones.

Source—https://twitter.com/SimonPGrindrod/status/1496543288584814601?t=5CXUqACf7HkLStsH-j2FkA&s=19

The truth is that the economy was tanking under the corrupt & incompetent ANC years before Covid came along.
