The HOGF, an international non-governmental organization (NGO), helps persons facing financial difficulties by tiding them over a difficult period and help them regain their financial independence.

Speaking at the opening ceremony at Olebu-Ablekuma in Accra, the Deputy Chief Executive of the Foundation, Mr. Benjamin Opuni said the Foundation was set up with the sole aim of supporting individuals, especially women and children, to become useful to the society.

“As our aim, the Foundation targets individual, especially women and children, to support them to age well, be financially stable through entrepreneurial development and incubate business initiative and innovations for their livelihood support,” he emphasized.

According to him, the Foundation believes in long-lasting relationships and partnerships and as such was open to partnering with other NGOs to ensure all generations of our society are involved in the fulfilment of the Foundation’s mission and vision.

It is worth noting that the Foundation has since its beginning financially supported for medical operation of Fibroid and Hernia to be performed on some selected beneficiaries.

“On November 17th, 2021, the Foundation undertook full medical and health screening for the entire community of Fankyinikor, a Suburb of Nsawam.

“We have also issued financial tokens to some selected beneficiaries as startup business capital and for which these persons are financially performing creditably. Additionally, we have ensured the payment of the full medical cost and surgical operations for some beneficiaries at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital”, he added.

He further hinted that the foundation also catered for the Academic User Facility Fees (School Fees) for two (2) nursing trainees.

“Albeit all these strides made by the Foundation, we strive for greater heights, there are more of these to happen and we are hopeful that the people of Olebu-Ablekuma will not be left out at all,” he stressed.

The Chief of the area, Nii Adotey Amarteifio (I) on his part, commended HOGF for their initiatives and interventions over the years and implored them to extend their services to inhabitants of Olebu-Ablekuma.

HOGF is a secular, independent non-profit and non-governmental organization based in Ghana and established in September 2020 in Accra, Greater Accra Region.

KSM who has been very vocal about political issues in the country in recent times asserts that while Ghana has always turned to God for help, even with its developmental issues, it is never the Lord’s job to construct Ghana.

He argued it is time to hold those in positions of authority accountable in order to fix the nation rather than waiting for God to step in even when leadership and action are required.

“Don’t be DECEIVED. The RESPONSIBILITY of building a nation is “NOT THE LORD’S”. IT IS OURS. If we FORGET that, we will end up with an UNWANTED “HAIRCUT”” he said in a tweet.

The economy is not in shambles – its only propaganda

0

By Samuel Akumatey

Ho, Dec. 31, GNA- Mr Makafui Woanyah, Volta Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has asked people to disregard claims the nation was failing, saying it was sheer mind sway.

He said the government of President Akufo-Addo had persisted successfully at accelerated development even through a global health crisis and a wide-reaching war, and that the nation should trust the resilience of the economy he built.

Addressing select members of the media fraternity in the Volta Region at an exclusive press soiree he held for them on Friday, the Regional Chairman said although the nation progressed, the government’s efforts were being cast upon with falsehood.

“In spite of the crisis, we have made great strides and we continue to make progress as a country.

Contrary to what the opposition and critics want us to believe, Ghana has moved on a great deal-Government continues to pay salaries of public sector workers. National Health insurance, which had collapsed under the previous NDC government is back on its feet and working for the average Ghanaian.”

“Not only is the Free SHS Policy still working, more and more educational infrastructure are being provided including the completion of abandoned projects by previous NDC governments,” Mr Woanyah said while stating numerous achievements of the present administration, which included crucial development and social relief programmes evident in the Volta Region.

“This is the economy some propagandists want us to believe is in shambles. All these we have done without any support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) yet. Government is on top of governance.”

The Regional Chairman said the media had divine responsibility to guide the nation’s development trajectory along the pathways of truth and should be active in shielding progress from false propaganda.

He said the media should seek to retrain its fact checking function, which was much needed for the advancement of the nation’s democracy.

“We expect the press to do your fact checks and report on the findings to government,” he said, also asking the media to recognize and help protect the realm of peace and tranquility the nation had been blessed with

“One important issue I would like to raise is also the issue of security and stability of our democracy, Lately, people including some sections of the media have made statements and pronouncements that sought to undermine the peace and stability of our dear nation.

Those who do not know the history of this country will toy with such dangerous ideas. There is no known better alternative to the system we have today. I want to remind the press that in the event of any upheaval.

The press will be the first casualty, so let’s hold dear our peace and tranquility. The press has a major role to play in the preservation of our collective security and stability,” Mr. Woanya admonished.

The chairman, who had revived a long-neglected tradition of press soirees in the Region, promised good working relationship with the media to facilitate mutual cooperation and support in the years ahead.

Mr Richard Ahiagbah, Communications Director for the NPP, who was present at the dinner said the NPP retained credit for current environment of democratic freedom, and that the press must work to preserve and protect the gains.

He said the party and the government recognized media’s value in development collaboration and looked forward for an enhanced relationship.

Present at the event were regional executives of the party as well as some local government leaders including Mr Divine Bosson, Municipal Chief Executive of Ho, and Mr. Edmund Kudjoh Attah, District Chief Executive of North Dayi.

Emmanuel Agbaxode, Volta, and Oti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA), on the behalf of the media, thanked the Party in the Region for the recognition, and assured that the commitment of practitioners to the development of a democratic nation remained firm.

Create jobs for youth instead of buying riot-control gear – Asiedu Nketia to government

0

Asiedu Nketia, NDC National Chairman

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Asiedu Nketia, has advised the government to create jobs for the youth rather than investing in riot-control gear for the Police.

According to him, it is prudent to give the youth jobs to enhance their livelihoods, which would deter them from engaging in demonstrations.

He was speaking at a graduation ceremony at Anfoega for some 80 females who trained in fashion designing and beautician courses, with sponsorship from the North Dayi Member of Parliament, Joycelyn Tetteh.

Mr Nketia said the country’s biggest problem has been youth unemployment which had become so alarming resulting in security threats.

“If you are in a country and more of your people are jobless, you cannot sustain any democracy. You can not continue to sustain peace in that country.

“And that is why I believe strongly that instead of spending more money on buying riot gear for the Police to foil demonstrations, it is better to find jobs for the youth so that when they are engaged, they will not find the need to demonstrate,” said Mr Nketia.

He, therefore, lauded Madam Tetteh’s initiative to equip the youth in her constituency with skills to enable them to engage in economic activities to support the livelihoods of their families.

He also counselled other Members of Parliament to emulate the gesture in creating jobs while they perform their primary duty of making laws to govern the state.

Madam Tetteh explained that she implemented the initiative to contribute to the development of women in the constituency by empowering them economically.

She said the skill development programme would be expanded to cover males in the coming years, aimed at propelling human resource development at North Dayi.

She added that the trainees have been provided with all requisite logistics to enable them to set up in the eight shops that have been rented for them.

“We will monitor them for five months to know if they are doing well or not, then we will advise ourselves on the way forward,” he explained.

The Paramount Chief of Anfoega, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, stressed that the Volta Region remains part of Ghana hence, deserves equal attention from any government.

He said people from the region would contribute their quota to the progress and development of the country and assured that traditional rulers in the region would continue to play their roles and guard the peace, stability and growth of Ghana jealously.

Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, who is also the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, expressed optimism the current hardship would be a thing of the past and invited all “to put their shoulders to the wheel” and work towards the progress of the country.

Mercy Johnson and husband melt hearts with new house gift for a total stranger

Months back, Mercy Johnson and her Prince Odi Okojie had warmed the hearts of Nigerians by gifting a septuagenarian, Elder Francis Uhioh of Amando Quarters, Amendokhian, Uromi a brand new house.

Sharing photos on his Instagram page, Prince Odi Okojie gave thanks to God for helping them fulfil the promise made to the stranger, whom they have never met.

“Dear friends and well-wishers,

To the glory of God Almighty, Yesterday the 16th of June, 2022, I and my amiable wife, Mrs Mercy Johnson Okojie kept our promise as we officially handed over the keys of the brand new house we built for the septuagenarian, Elder Francis Uhioh of Amando Quarters, Amendokhian, Uromi. It particularly excites us to see joy and happiness restored back to this family whom I have never met until yesterday at the official opening ceremony.

Like I have said before and still reiterating now, showing love and bringing succour to people in dire need is a divine calling for me. Giving back to the needy amongst us is not a feature of how much one has in the bank, but of how much love one has at heart.

In our outreach programmes over the years, I learnt that there is a special kind of joy that comes with uplifting people no matter the strata of society they belong to. It pleases God when we do the least we can for fellow brethren, especially in critical situations.

Let me use this medium to thank my great mentor, our father, a philanthropist of excellence and a passionate lover of God, Bishop Matthew Okpebholo JP and his entourage for squeezing out time from his ever-busy schedule to grace the occasion of the opening ceremony despite the heavy downpour. My father sir, Obulu! Obulu!! Read more here.

Where President William Ruto To Celebrate New Year And His Plans For 2023

0

Dr. William Ruto, president of Kenya, will be spending the New Year away from the country. Ruto and his family celebrated Christmas Day at their house in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County, and then attended a church service with other believers. However, he appears to have different intentions this time.

In order to ring in 2023, the President plans to spend the evening at an interfaith ceremony in Mombasa with the saints. From what we can gather, he plans to put his political promises for the coastal area into action during his visit.

According to Mohammed Ali, the current Nyali MP and the president’s supporter, the president’s intentions to restructure the Kenya Ports Authority and revitalise the economy of the coast region through manufacturing, commerce, and value addition will be discussed during the president’s next visit to Mombasa. He also said that the KPA’s Managing Director and Chairperson are still being selected.

Christians advised against idolatry and occultism

0

By Nelson Ayivor

Tadzewu (VR), Dec. 31, GNA-Reverend Nyeenyami Etsey Wovenu, the High Priest and Chairman of the governing council of the Church of Apostles Revelation Society (ARS) has advised Christians to shy away from occultism and other forms of idolatry and hold fast to the tenets of their faith as taught by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Rev. Wovenu gave the advice in a sermon to climax the week-long annual convention of the Church at New Tadzewu in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta region.

According to the clergyman, most Christians have now strayed from the teachings of Christ and the Bible and are venturing into fetishism and occultism, which are against the Christian doctrine, principles, and faith.

“The almighty God is capable of solving all our problems – why then do many Christians these days stray from the path of righteousness and seek solutions to their problems in shrines and other ungodly places as if our heavenly father is now powerless to protect his children,” he wondered.

Rev. Wovenu observed that the youth of today in their burning desire to get rich quick were resorting to occultic practices, which are responsible for the many youthful and untimely deaths being witnessed across the country in recent times.

To this end, the ARS leader admonished the youth to be content with their lot and refrain from acts that would result in their sudden demise with many of them not being able to reach their full potentials to impact society.

He condemned the phenomenon, where television channels were allowed to air content, which encouraged money rituals and called on the National Media Commission (NMC) and other relevant authorities to enact laws to regulate such programming including sanctions to sanitise the airwaves.

The annual convention, which also marked the 83rd anniversary of the Founding of the ARS Church, came off from December 24 to 30, 2022.

It brought together thousands of Church members from across the globe and was on the theme “No King is saved by the multitude of an army- A mighty man is not delivered by great strength” as stated in the book of Psalms chapter 33: 16-19.

‘This is the last Afrochella’ – Shock at end of Ghana music festival

0

After five years, Ghanaian music and cultural festival Afrochella will not return, its organisers have said.

The ‘shock’ announcement was made at the very end of the two-day festival, in the early hours of Friday morning.

“This is the last Afrochella,” said co-founder Abdul Abdullah to the thousands of people still in the El-Wak stadium in the capital, Accra.

He did not give any reason.

However, in October California-based music festival Coachella sued the organisers for trademark infringement.

Mr Abdullah made the announcement just after headline act Burna Boy had closed his set, wowing the crowd with hits such as Last Last, Angelina and Dangote.

Although the stadium was still packed with thousands of people, the news that it was the final Afrochella escaped the attention of some, especially given that it was almost 03:00.

One African American woman I spoke to had missed the announcement as she was trying to beat the rush to get home.

Those who did notice were very upset.

“I couldn’t believe it when they said Afrochella is over,” said one woman.

Musician

Afrochella is heavily promoted to African Americans and many of those in the crowd had travelled from the US or UK to celebrate the new year in the continent of their origin.

“I’m shocked – this is what a lot of us in the diaspora look forward to at the end of the year,” said one African American man.

“There was something special about Afrochella that meant so much to African Americans like me – I think it’s gonna be hard to fill the void that they’ll leave,” said another.

And this year’s festival was certainly a huge success.

Stonebwoy, Asake and Gyakie thrilled fans with amazing performances.

Although it wasn’t smooth for everyone.

Nigerian artiste Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, also known as Ayra Starr, fell on stage while performing her hit song.

She blamed the organisers for the incident. “Afrochella next time y’all should clean your stage after every artist’s performance, that fall was very unnecessary and painful,” she posted.

The event also saw performances from other talented musicians.

“It was amazing, so good to play for my people, making sure that everyone is getting a good time. Everyone has fun,” Jules, a young singer from the Netherlands, told the BBC.

Singer Aerostar was excited about her performance: “The energy was amazing, the crowd was amazing too and the band did so well,” she said.

While the end of Afrochella will certainly leave a gap in the jam-packed calendar of events in Ghana, known as “Detty December”, tourists and visitors alike will still be able to enjoy a wide range of programmes.

Reveller
Image caption,Ghana still has a lot of festivals on offer even though Afrochella will be missed

For example, the Afro Nation festival wraps up on Friday night with performances by British-Nigerian artist, Skepta, Franco-Congolese singer Dadju and Ghana’s rising star Black Sherif, to name just a few.

And the BHIM concert, Tropical Fiesta, Mozama Disco, Lamajo fest will all be back next year.

But Afrochella will be sorely missed.

It was among events that authorities in Ghana hoped would continue attracting tourists, especially from the African diaspora, to the country as part of its “Beyond Return” initiative.

This is a follow-up to the “Year of Return” launched in 2019 to mark 400 years since the first enslaved Africans arrived in America.
