Department of Education Dropped a bombshell to South African students about PREGNANCY

Department of Education Drops a bombshell to south African students about pregnancy

The department of higher education has dropped a bombshell to all students after a decision to remove all learners who are found pregnant in any of the public school were made. This came after the number of pregnancy in schools were found higher than unexpected surjngbthr time when south Africa was hit by coronavirus and students had to be at home to quarantine.

Yesterday, the board agreed that pregnancy in schools are causing major problems and delaying class lessons because each and every student who is pregnant needs special attention of which the school can not be able to provide to them as it’s not even on heir job description to take care of sick learners and all that. Theh also gave an example where they said they will give exception to theearners who’s parents can be able to come to school and wait for their children who are pregnant for in case something happens but they realised that parents also have work to do and if they are unable to work because of their children who are pregnant, what will they way at home?.

Many people however disagree with this decision saying that it will delay learners and by the time they come back from giving birth at home it will be too late for them and would have lost too so much from their studies. The department of Education also knows that it’s not easy for a learner to come back and continue with school after being away for some time, such learners are said to be looked after in terms of counseling on their return to the school. Parents are also urged to ensure that the affected children do return to school after giving birth in order to prepare for their future .

Opinion:

I think the decision taken by the Department of Education is rather harsh but will be effective in a way that it will prevent many learners to fall pregnant once they know that they will have to be removed from school. Again, this will also encourage learners to study hard and leave out dating boys a school but to only focus on their studies.
