Police experienced a nightmare when they confronted gunmen at a Funeral in Mpumalanga

A multidisciplinary Police team consisting of the National Intervention Unit, TRT, Vispol, POPS, Crime Intelligence has led to the successful arrest of two suspects for shooting at police in Siyabuswa E, Mpumalanga Province.

According to the saps news report, yesterday, Saturday,19 February 2022 the National Intervention Unit (NIU) members were monitoring a funeral of Klaas Motswadira which was attended by 600 people, they spotted a few attendees shooting rifles and pistols randomly in the air.

The same suspects left the cemetery in a convoy and continued to shoot in the air, the National Intervention Unit tried to tell them to stop but they refused and instead they shot at the NIU members, the police shot back at the suspects and chased after them, this lead to the suspect losing control and crashing into a wall.



Police searched the vehicle of the suspects and found an unlicensed pistol with a serial number filled off, the firearm was confiscated and two suspects were immediately arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and shooting at the police, they will soon make an appearance in court to face the said charges.
