There is nothing more worrying than discovering that the people who are supposed to protect the nation are the ones behind dodgy heists, corruption and self-enrichment that is untraceable.
It seems as if we are stuck in the limbo once again. Last week there were a number of heists that were reported on media. Although some were not recorded on camera, one of them occured in Soweto.
Another one has been reported by News24. According to the reputable source consulted one of the suspects SANDF personnel and police officers were among 13 suspects arrested following a cash-in-transit heist in Carletonville on the West Rand on Monday night. This has raised serious concerns about the level of violence used by armed gangs in targeting cash-in-transit vehicles.
Renso Smit, G4S’s MD for South Africa, said that G4S has been attacked less than 26,000 times over the past year. Attacks on the have not varied significantly from year to year either.
