The story of a student who was erroneously paid 14 million by Intellmali which is a private that distributes finds, on behalf of the Walter Sisulu University has been talked about. Miss Mani has been on the headlines after she was found guilty and the court ruled that it was theft she is now awaiting sentencing.
Nsfas has now commented on this matter giving facts about what has transpired as it is believed that the media is not being truthful as they report on this matter.
It is believed that the funds in question did not belong to Nsfas as many have thought. The money belonged to the university, and this was established after some thorough investigations on the matter. The service provider then went ahead and reimbursed the university the amount of R818 000 which was used by the student.
The investigation has further found out that no Walter Sisulu University employees have been involved in the error of paying the R14 million to the student account.
The University did not take any action against the student as it is believed that the third party had taken full responsibility for the error to pay the R818 000 used by the student.
The fact that Miss Mani has been found guilty has angered many people as she is now waiting to be sentenced, and it is not known what her punishment will be. People have been trying to understand why she is being found guilty while the same thing happened to an Eskom employee who was paid more than he was supposed to be paid but no action was taken against him.
Some people believe that nothing was done because he is white and now because it is a black person involved, she is being called a thief while the people who made this transaction have been cleared of the wrongdoing.
