Political killings are continuing in the ruling party. With the elective conference approaching, more and more officials are getting attacked. Comrades are bayinf for each other’s blood just to secure top positions.
In another shocking incident, former Nelson Mandela Bay councillor, and ANC member, Mazwi Mini narrowly escaped death after he was attacked and shot in his KwaNobuhle home.The shooting took place at about 10:55pm on Saturday. The Bay ANC chief whip of council, councillor Wandisile Jikeka said Mini was watching TV at home when shots were fired at him from outside. Mazwi was rushed to hospital where he is being treated for gunshot wounds in his lower jaw.
In a statement released by the African National Congress, the party expressed has great sense of shock and disbelief of the attempted murder of comrade Mazwi Mini. In the statement, the rulung party said it is calling for all the relevant law enforcement agencies to be seized with the investigation so that the culprits can be charged and prosecuted. The party added that it will not tolerate any violence and gangsterism. “Those do not have any place in our communities and it’s a scourge which must be confronted where it rears its ugly head,” the statement further read. The ANC says violence has claimed many comrades’ lives and they are calling for anyone who might have witnessed this atrocious act of criminality to come and furnish the relevant law enforcement agencies.
The ANC further sent well wishes to comrade Mini, a speedy recovery and strength to him and his family. “He must remain steadfast and not shaken. But how many statements like this one has the ANC released following attacks and killings of comrades? The party will always condemn in speaking but there’s no action to stop the senseless killings. It is them who kill each other and they release meaningless statements afterwards! Such a deadly business being an ANC councillor!
