Cristiano Ronaldo is yet to score a goal or provide an assist in his last six games for Manchester United, with his last goal coming against Burnley on December 30 2021.
This is a player who is very clinical in front of goal and very effective at scoring goals, and has done so every year since 2002. He is currently frustrated with Manchester United as can be seen in their last match.
After a disappointing 1-1 draw with Southampton, Red Devils boss Ralf Rangnick had his say on Ronaldo’s goal drought. He said: “It’s not only about Cristiano Ronaldo. That we should score more goals, it’s obvious. We created enough chances in the last couple of games, but we just didn’t score enough goals. This is not only an issue with Cristiano, but an issue with other players, especially with the offensive players. We don’t score enough goals.”
This year is no doubt Cristiano’s worst run in front of goal in almost 13 years. The last time the Portugal captain failed to score a goal was between December 2008 and January 2009 in seven matches.
During his stay with the Los Blancos and the Old Lady, the 37-year-old didn’t go any more than four games without hitting the back of the net.
In spite of the tough times, the star striker is still the top scorer for Manchester United with 14 goals in 27 matches, with six of those goals coming from five Champions League games.
With a trip to Atletico Madrid for their Champions League knockout stages on 23 February, the Premier League giants could win with their main man finding his scoring touch.
